Past Pet of the Month.
Elvis the Springer Spaniel.
The English Springer Spaniel is the founder of all the English hunting spaniels. Their talents include hunting, tracking, retrieving, watchdog, agility, competitive obedience, and performing tricks.
The coat of the Springer Spaniel is fairly easy to maintain. Springer Spaniels with longer coats will matt if not brushed often and particular attention needs to be given to the ears and the feet. The hair on the feet needs to be trimmed to prevent burrs from being imbedded. The longer coats will pick up burrs and branches and need to be combed out after outside exercise or it will matt badly.
Elvis is typical of his breed. He is intelligent, willing, obedient and a quick learner.

Labradors have a double coat. The outer coat of a Labrador is called guard coat. It guards the Labrador to keep them dry while swimming. The undercoat of the Labrador is soft and downy that keeps them warm while in the cold water.
It is important to remove dead/loose hair on a regular basis. Removing the loose hair helps the coat move more freely, allowing the dog to regulate its temperature more efficiently. Removing the dead/loose hair will also promote good skin and general health and wellbeing.
